BIRMINGHAM (Web Desk) – The security for Pakistan-India Champions Trophy match has Sunday been beefed up after the assailants drove a van at high speed into pedestrians on London Bridge before stabbing Saturday night revelers on the street and in nearby bars, killing at least six people and wounding more than 30.

The clash between the titans is all set to begin at 10:30 local time (02:30 PM PST) at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, and speculations are being raised that United Kingdom intelligence have received alerts regarding a possible attack during the match in Birmingham.

It has further been revealed that Pakistan Cricket Board and Board of Control for Cricket in India, both have been informed by the intelligence unit that there is nothing to worry about, and the authorities have asked them to remain panic free.

Furthermore, the team officials of both sides have been asked to not talk about the terror threats in front of media to avoid creating any kind of fright among the people. The security has also been increased as the forces do not want to take any risk.

This is the second time in less than two weeks that England has been a victim of terrorist attack, as twenty-two people, including children, were killed and dozens injured in Manchester on May 22 when a man detonated a bomb at a pop concert by US star Ariana Grande, in Britain’s deadliest terror attack in 12 years.

Coming back to cricket, this is fourth time that the arch-rivals will lock horns with each other in the mega encounter of Champions Trophy. The Green Shirts lead the rivalry by two victories to one over their neighbors. Furthermore, the skippers of Pakistan and India, both are leading their respective sides in an ICC event for the first time.
