Shahid Afridi remained the Man of the Match for his quick 23 off 8 balls, 2 wickets and 3 catches

LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Pakistan won the first T20I against New Zealand on Friday courtesy some brilliant all-round performance by captain ‘Boom Boom’ Shahid Afridi and some tactful batting by ‘Professor’ Mohammad Hafeez. Afridi scored 23 runs off just 8 balls with 2 boundaries and 2 sixes, got 2 wickets in an over and caught three catches. Hafeez scored 61 runs off 47 balls, reported Dunya News.

Upon receiving the Man of the Match award, Shahid Afridi said that Hafeez batted brilliantly for his 61. He gave the credit of the victory to his pacers Umar Gul and Mohammad Amir, who made a comeback after 5 years to international cricket.

On the other hand, Hafeez seemed in some outstanding form today. He made 61 runs off 47 balls with the help of 8 boundaries and 2 sixes. While the wickets kept falling at the other end, Hafeez kept his end of the wicket intact and laid solid foundations for the hitters to build up a mighty total of 170 runs.

It was Hafeez’s first 50 against New Zealand and 8th overall.
