LAHORE (Web Desk) - Sale of tickets for Pakistan Super League twenty20 tournament to be played in the United Arab Emirates next month has started.

Five teams, representing Pakistan‘s four provincial capitals and the federal capital, will take part in the League.

The first edition of PSL is bringing together top international cricketers from different countries to play 24 matches in Dubai and Sharjah between February 4-23.

The tournament that promises $1, 00, 000 to the winning team. It also promises plenty of excitement as teams from Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Lahore take part in the PSL.

Given that each team is allowed a maximum of 16 players, 80 players will participate in the PSL, of which 55 will be local players while the other 25 will be internationals. Quality international coaches have been roped to manage the five teams with precision and bite.

Former Pakistan captains Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja have been roped in as brand ambassadors of the tournament for the next three years.


LIST OF TEAMS


1) Islamabad United

Representing Pakistan’s federal capital, Islamabad United are led by Pakistan’s test skipper Misbah ul Haq. The team’s impressive roster includes Shane Watson, Mohammad Irfan, Brad Haddin, Andre Russell, Samuel Badree and Mohammad Sami.

2) Lahore Qalandars

The Qalandars represent Pakistan’s cultural hub and capital of the province of Punjab, Lahore. The team brings the biggest sufi rockstar of international cricket, Chris Gayle, to Dubai and Sharjah. Joining Gayle are T20 mavericks Umar Akmal and Dwayne Bravo. Pakistan’s ODI captain Azhar Ali is joined by West Indian Kevon Cooper and rising Bangladeshi star Mustafiz ur Rahman to complete an impressive squad.

3) Karachi Kings

Led by Shoaib Malik and joined by international stars Shakib al Hasan, Ravi Bopara,Sohail Tanvir, Lendl Simmons, James Vince, Imad Wasim, TM Dilshan, and Mohammad Amir, the Karachi Kings will be a team to beat at the HBL Pakistan Super League.

4) Quetta Gladiators

The Gladiators are captained by Pakistan’s wicket keeper Sarfaraz Ahmed. Star England batsman Kevin Pietersen is joined by Ahmad Shehzad, Luke Wright, Jason Holder, Umar Gul, Anwar Ali, Elton Chigumbura and Kumar Sangakkara. Surprise package? Well they have Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi too. 
 

5) Peshawar Zalmi

Pakistan’s favourite limited overs star Shahid Afridi is leading the Peshawar Zalmis. West Indian T20 skipper Darren Sammy, Kamran Akmal, Tamim Iqbal, Wahab Riaz, Dawid Malan, Mohammad Hafeez and Junaid Khan will be playing for the Zalmis.
