Pietersen set for Surrey Twenty20 bow
Kevin Pietersen will make his domestic Twenty20 Blast debut for Surrey at home to Essex on Friday.
LONDON (AFP) - Former England star Kevin Pietersen will make his domestic Twenty20 Blast debut for Surrey at home to Essex on Friday, tournament organisers announced on Wednesday.
A message published on the competition s Twitter feed said: "NEWS: Kevin Pietersen named in @surreycricket squad, set for #T20Blast action at the Oval on Friday."
Pietersen had been scheduled to open his campaign against Middlesex last week, but he was ruled out by a finger injury.
A YouTube video showing Pietersen padding up in a changing room was also posted on Surrey s Twitter feed, along with the words: "This gentleman will be coming to work on Friday night."
Pietersen, 33, had his international career ended by the England and Wales Cricket Board earlier this year after England s disastrous Ashes series whitewash in Australia.
However, he joked that he was hoping for a call-up when England announce their team for the first Test against Sri Lanka on Thursday.
"England selectors meeting today... I m ready to go!" he wrote on Twitter.
"Fancy Lords next week... I m a number 4 batter & bowl off spin. #KPforLords."
