England win toss and choose to field
Broad is leading his country for the first time in an ODI.
NORTH SOUND (AFP) - England captain Stuart Broad won the toss and put West Indies in to bat in the first One-Day International of their three-match series at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Friday.
Broad is leading his country for the first time in an ODI and his team for the start of what is being described as the "post-Kevin Pietersen" era, includes debutant openers Michael Lumb and Moeen Ali.
Lumb is viewed as a T20 specialist while Ali, who also bowls useful off-spin, gets his first England cap with experienced middle-order batsman Eoin Morgan sidelined by a knee injury. Ravi Bopara is playing in his 100th one-dayer.
Following an unconvincing brief series against Ireland in Jamaica the previous week, which included a four-wicket win in the lone ODI, West Indies have brought in Lendl Simmons for Marlon Samuels in their middle-order while mystery spinner Sunil Narine and fast-medium bowler Ravi Rampaul return to bolster the bowling attack.
Teams
West Indies - Dwayne Bravo (captain), Dwayne Smith, Kieran Powell, Kirk Edwards, Darren Bravo, Lendl Simmons, Darren Sammy, Denesh Ramdin, Sunil Narine, Jason Holder, Ravi Rampaul.
England - Stuart Broad (captain), Michael Lumb, Moeen Ali, Luke Wright, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Chris Jordan, James Tredwell.
