If more Indians could enter the skilled work force, wage rises would be more muted.

Consulting firm Aon Hewitt says Indian salaries will rise 12 percent this year, the largest jump among Asian nations for the tenth year in a row.The rise reflects Indias resilient economic growth. Aon Hewitt says global economic headwinds will likely shave just 0.3 to 2 percentage points off last years pace of wage growth. But rising salaries also reflect the fact that just 15 percent of Indias teeming working age population is employable in the private sector. If more Indians could enter the skilled work force, wage rises would be more muted, Aon Hewitt says.
