More than 1.7m cotton bales imported

More than 1.7 million cotton bales have been imported while 0.5 million bales exported.

According to Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association, though Pakistan had less produce, cotton was still exported in the current year due to high prices in international market. In Pakistan, at the beginning of the season, cotton prices was Rs 6,500 per maund, which later reached at Rs 14,000 per maund. He said that new season has started and new cotton price was at Rs 8,850 per maund, while old cotton had been traded at Rs 9,000 per maund. Factories in Jhang have a stock of about 9,000 bales.
