For the first time in the history of Pakistan, the price of tomatoes peaked it’s highest-ever at Rs. 300 per kg. The local markets increased the price of tomatoes in August this year after the government rejected the import of tomatoes.

The price of tomatoes in December 2016 was only Rs. 45 per kg while in December 2017, the price of tomatoes reached up to Rs. 75 per kg. Last year in December 2016, the price of potatoes per kilogram was Rs. 35 whilst the price has increased since then, reaching Rs. 50 per kg.

While a majority of food items have seen some drastic increase in prices only the prices of pulse witnessed a decrease due to an increase in the local production, resulting in the price dropping from Rs. 220 per kg to Rs. 160 per kg.
