Inflation hits three-month high

During current financial year inflation peaked to a three-month high.According to Federal Bureau of Statistics, consumer prices rose 13.26 percent from a year earlier after climbing 12.9 per cent in March 2010. The food and beverages prices rose by 14.55 percent compared to same period last year. Rents recorded an increase 0.23 percent. Transportation fares rose by 20.47 percent while educational expense rose by 8.8 percent.It is pertinent to note that State Bank Governor Syed Salim Raza indicated in February that he would wait for inflation to drop 10 per cent before moving to cut interest rates.
