Cyprus plan was unique, not likely applicable elsewhere: IMF
IMF says Cyprus's plan was "unique" and was not applicable elsewhere.
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The International Monetary Fund said Thursday that the controversial plan to penalize depositors and bondholders to rescue Cyprus s banks was "unique" and not likely applicable elsewhere.
"It would be difficult to extend the case to the rest of Europe or to to the world," said spokesman Gerry Rice, amid concerns that depositors elsewhere in Europe could be hit if banks fail.
