India: More than 30 killed in train, bus accident

At least 31 people were killed when a train hit a bus at a railway crossing in northern India.

According to police, the bus was filled with passengers returning home from a wedding party.The accident happened early Thursday near Kanshiramnagar, a village 350 kilometers (220 miles) southwest of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh state.Police said that bus stopped at the unmanned crossing after its wheel axle broke, and it was hit by the train, killing at least 31 people and injuring another 35.The bride and the groom were not among the victims. They were traveling in a separate vehicle.
