Birmingham residents show solidarity by holding 'Free Kashmir' march
Pakistani High Commissioner arranged Kashmir Solidarity Walk in Oxford.
BIRMINGHAM (Dunya News) – The people of Birmingham on Saturday took to streets to show solidarity with Kashmiris by holding ‘Free Kashmir’ march outside Birmingham City Council House.
According to KMS, hundreds of people from all walks of life gathered to express solidarity with the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir. The protesters marched towards the Indian Consulate, Birmingham, raising slogans against the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and Indian forces’ personnel who are brutally killing innocent people in the occupied territory.
The keynote speakers were Deputy Opposition Leader of the British Parliament, Tom Watson, MP, leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Ward, MP Liam Byrne, MP Shabana Mahmood, MEP Phil Bennion, Councillors Waseem Zafar, Ranjit Singh, Robert Alden, Sharon Thompson, Muhammad Yaseen, Councillor Zaker Choudhry, President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, Fahim Kayani, and others.
In their speeches, they expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people and said that the Indian government should stop human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. The international community cannot tolerate any human rights violations that may take place anywhere in the world, they added.
Tom Watson condemned the human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir and showed solidarity with the Kashmiri people. He said India must find a solution to the lingering Kashmir dispute.
Raja Amjad Khan, Qamar Abbas, Chaudhry Khadim Hussain, Riffat Mughal, Samina Raja, Rana Shama Nazir, Rabab Malik, Muhammad Ghalib, Zubeda Khan, Aasiya Hussain, Bilqees Sabir Raja, Manpreet Singh, Amrik Singh Sahotha, Ghazala Ahmed, Maqsood Hussain, Rabiya Meer, Rani Arif, Chaudhry Khalil, Mohammed Aftab, Chaudhry Karamat Hussain, Taiba Hussain and others also participated in the ‘Free Kashmir March’.
Meanwhile, Pakistani High Commissioner to UK, Nafees Zakaria, expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir in Birmingham. He in his address to the protesters highlighted the Indian brutalities in the occupied territory.
He also arranged ‘Kashmir Solidarity Walk’ in Oxford.
Similarly, solidarity was also expressed with Kashmiris at Al Hira Educational and Cultural Centre in Luton. A resolution passed on the occasion condemned the brutal policies of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in occupied Kashmir.
