Occupied Kashmir has witnessed massive protests over the past more than four months.

SRIANAGAR (Web Desk) - In Indian Occupied Kashmir, forceful clashes erupted in Pulwama district after thousands of people attended funeral of a local youth who was killed by Indian troops during an operation in Kakapora area on Saturday evening.

The youth clashed with the Indian armed forces at Kakapora main chowk after offering funeral of the martyred youth, Rayees Ahmad Dar.

The forces fired teargas shells to thwart the flow of the youth heading towards martyrs’ graveyard.

The clashes in the district were going on till last reports came in.

The region has witnessed massive protests over the past more than four months. More than 100 people, most of whom teenagers, were killed and over 14,000 injured (including those blinded and maimed) in police and paramilitary shootings while controlling public protests.

Each death has triggered more protests despite government measures to impose a strict curfew across the towns.

Protests have been on since July 8 following the killing of Burhan Wani, a popular commander, in a gunfight with Indian troops.
The continuous shutdown of 133 days has been so far the longest in the region’s troubled history.
