Jet cleaner throws away $50,000 into the bin
Worker is on trial for theft charges in RAK although pilot dropped the case.
(Web Desk) - An Asian aircraft cleaner who found a plastic bag in the cabin while cleaning the passenger plane at Ras Al Khaimah international airport dumped the bag in the bin outside, apparently not knowing it contained nearly $50,000.
After missing his bag, the pilot reported the incident to the police and accused the cleaner of stealing his money. But the worker told police he just found a little bag and threw it in the bin, triggering a search by other cleaners.
Police said the cleaners found the bag and returned it to the pilot, who decided to drop charges against the cleaner.
At court on Wednesday, the defence lawyer asked the judge to dismiss the case on the grounds there was no crime as the cleaner did not know the bag contained money and the pilot has already dropped the case against him.
