KABUL (Dunya News) - Former Afghanistan international fast bowler Shapoor Zadran has passed away at the age of 38 after a prolonged illness.

Standing over six feet tall, Zadran was widely recognized for his aggressive fast bowling, distinctive long flowing hair, and fiery presence on the field. He played a pivotal role during the early rise of Afghanistan's national cricket team on the international stage.
Having lived as a refugee in Pakistan's Peshawar, Zadran began his cricketing journey in the city. During his early playing days, he shared the field with future Afghanistan stars, including Mohammad Nabi, Asghar Afghan, and Dawlat Zadran.
Between 2009 and 2020, Zadran represented Afghanistan in 44 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 36 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), making significant contributions during a transformative period for Afghan cricket.
According to reports, he had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in New Delhi, where he was battling Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, a rare and life-threatening immune disorder.
His passing has prompted an outpouring of grief from the cricketing community, with fans and former teammates remembering him as one of the pioneers who helped establish Afghanistan as a competitive force in international cricket.
