Summary After 12 months in the role, Shaun Tait is stepping down to prioritise family time.
DHAKA (Web Desk) - Shaun Tait has resigned from his position as Bangladesh's fast bowling coach with immediate effect. He said on Thursday that he wants to concentrate on giving more time to his young family, after having worked with the BCB for the past 12 months.
"My 12 months with the BCB and the Bangladesh national team was fulfilling," Tait told ESPNcricinfo. "I want to thank the BCB. I really enjoyed working with the players. I have a great relationship with the fast bowling group. They were good to work with and I created some really good relationships in Bangladesh, around the cricketing community in general.
"I don't think that'll be the closed door on my time in the country. There's obviously BPL and what not. You never know what the future holds. But for the time being, my young family need a bit more of my time. So, the full-time role of year-round red and white-ball cricket, my 12 months was enough and it's time to just step back and give my family a little bit more time."
Tait joined the Bangladesh team in May last year when it was announced that he would be in the role till November 2027. Tait took over from former New Zealand allrounder Andre Adams at the time.
During his time as the bowling coach, Tait oversaw Bangladesh's fast bowlers rapidly growing into match-winners. The most recent exploit was their 2-0 win in the Test series against Pakistan. Tait backed the fast bowling group, telling ESPNcricinfo in a recent interview that it was time for Bangladesh to accept the fast bowlers as the team's strength.
Tait has also previously worked in the BPL with Chittagong Kings, apart from his time with Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The BCB is reportedly considering Talha Jubair, the former fast bowler who is a reputed coach at the domestic level, as Tait's replacement for the Australia white-ball matches at home from next week. The three-match ODI series begins on June 9 in Dhaka.
