Summary Resuming their second innings at 110 for three, Bangladesh lost skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto for 15 early in the morning session

SYLHET (Dunya News) – Veteran batsman Mushfiqur Rahim hit a century to help Bangladesh tighten the noose around Pakistan as they compiled 330-6 – an overall 376-run lead – in their second inning on third day of the second Test on Monday.

Mushfiqur joined Litton Das (69) to steady the innings after Bangladesh lost skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto for 15 early in the morning session. He scored 104 just after tea break – his 14th century in 102 Tests.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz contributed 19 runs.

Medium-pacer Khurram Shahzad led the Pakistan bowling attack and took four wickets for 79 runs. Mohammad Abbas claimed Mahmudul Hasan Joy’s scalp conceding 63 runs. Hasan Ali captured the sixth wicket to fall by removing Das. He also gave away 63 runs. 

Bangladesh lost Joy for 52, Mominul Haque 30, and Tanzid Hasan four on Sunday.

Earlier, Pakistan were bowled out for 232 runs in their first innings against Bangladesh.

Pakistan resumed the day at 21 without loss but quickly lost both openers. Azaan Awais scored 13 and Abdullah Fazal made 9.

Captain Shan Masood managed 21 runs, Babar Azam scored 68, Saud Shakeel made 8, Salman Agha 21, and Mohammad Rizwan 13. Hassan Ali scored 18, Sajid Khan 38, Khurram Shahzad 10, while Mohammad Abbas failed to open his account.

For Bangladesh, Nahid Rana and Taijul Islam took three wickets each, while Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed two wickets apiece.
