DHAKA (Dunya News) – Debutant Azan Awais struck a memorable century while Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan steadied Pakistan’s innings after a middle-order collapse on the third day of the opening Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Sunday. Rain eventually forced players off the field with Pakistan on 349-6.

Salman and Rizwan rebuilt the innings after Pakistan lost four quick wickets during the morning session, having resumed the day at 179-1. Rizwan was the sixth batter dismissed after scoring 59 off 79 balls, an innings featuring eight boundaries. He shared a valuable 119-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Salman.

Salman remained unbeaten on 55 when rain interrupted play, hitting a six and six fours during his composed knock.

Earlier in the day, Azan converted his overnight score of 84 into a century in his debut Test appearance. Batting patiently, he became the 14th Pakistani player to score a hundred on Test debut. He was dismissed shortly after reaching the milestone, making 103 from 165 deliveries with the help of 12 fours. Taskin Ahmed claimed his wicket, caught by Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Pakistan earlier lost captain Shan Masood for 9 at 226, while Saud Shakeel failed to score. Opener Imam-ul-Haq contributed 45 runs and Abdullah Fazal 60.

For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz captured three wickets for 94 runs, Taskin Ahmed two for 70 and Taijul Islam one for 39.

Bangladesh had posted 413 in their first innings on Saturday, with Najmul Hossain Shanto scoring 101, Mominul Haque making 91 and Mushfiqur Rahim contributing 71 runs.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas starred with the ball by taking five wickets, while Shaheen Shah Afridi grabbed three. Noman Ali and Hasan Ali picked up one wicket each.
