Pakistan crumble with bat, set Bangladesh 115-run target in first ODI

MIRPUR (Dunya News) – Pakistan set a target of 115 runs for Bangladesh to win the first match of the three-match ODI series.

The match is being played at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka, where Bangladesh won the toss and decided to field first against Pakistan.

For Pakistan, Sahibzada Farhan and Muaz Sadaqat added 41 runs for the first wicket. However, after the dismissals of Farhan and Mohammad Rizwan, the batting lineup collapsed and nine wickets fell for 82 runs. Later, a partnership between Abrar Ahmed and Faheem Ashraf helped the team reach 115 runs.

Sahibzada Farhan scored 27 runs, Muaz Sadaqat 18, Shamil Hussain 4, Mohammad Rizwan 10, and Salman Ali Agha 5. Abdul Samad returned to the pavilion without scoring, while Hussain Talat scored 4 and captain Shaheen Shah Afridi 4. Mohammad Wasim Jr was also dismissed for 0, while Faheem Ashraf played a valuable knock of 37 runs.

For Bangladesh, Nahid Rana took five wickets, Mehidy Hasan claimed three, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman picked up one wicket each.

Speaking after the toss, Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi said that a total of 270 to 280 would be a good target on this pitch.

Four players — Sahibzada Farhan, Muaz Sadaqat, Abdul Samad, and Shamil Hussain — have made their ODI debuts for Pakistan. The team also includes Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Hussain Talat, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Wasim Jr, and Abrar Ahmed.

The second and third matches of the series will be played on March 13 and March 15 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
