KARACHI (Dunya News) - Three-time world snooker champion Mohammad Asif claimed the title of the National Bank Golden Jubilee National Snooker Championship after defeating Rana Irfan in a thrilling final.

The final of the 50th National Snooker Championship was played at the National Bank Sports Complex, where Mohammad Asif faced Punjab’s Rana Irfan in an 11-frame contest. Despite producing two century breaks, Rana Irfan was unable to secure victory against the experienced Asif.

Rana Irfan showcased impressive form by compiling a 112 break in the second frame and a remarkable 141 break in the seventh frame, which stood as the highest break of the championship. However, his strong performance was not enough to overcome Mohammad Asif’s consistency and composure.

Mohammad Asif delivered an outstanding display during the tournament, scoring a total of eight century breaks. With this victory, he secured his fifth National Snooker Championship title, further cementing his status as one of Pakistan’s most successful cueists.

At the conclusion of the championship, prize money worth Rs1.6 million was distributed among the players. National Bank President Rehmat Husaini, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) President Abdul Qadir Memon, and Alamgir Sheikh presented the awards.

Speaking after his victory, Mohammad Asif said that while he has brought numerous honors to the country, he has yet to receive the full prize money announced for his achievements. He also expressed disappointment over the lack of recognition despite winning multiple international titles.
