Young weightlifter got fifth position in 67kg category with an overall impressive lifting of 320KG

 TOKYO (Dunya News) – Youngster weightlifter Talha Talib turned him a “national hero” due to his performance despite an obvious lack of resources as the 21-yearsold narrowly missed out medal for Pakistan in Tokyo Olympics.

Even not getting Olympic medal, Pakistan proud on Talha and he is being admired as well as became trend on the social media micro-blogging website twitter. Talha is the first weightlifter in 46 years to represent Pakistan at the Tokyo Olympics. He missed out Olympic medal for Pakistan but turned plenty of heads as Pakistan finally took notice of him

The young weightlifter from Gujranwala, making his Olympics debut, took part in the 67kg category and held the gold medal spot until the final round before eventually being bumped down and denied a podium finish.

The Pakistani weightlifter secured a fifth position in the 67kg category with an overall impressive lifting of 320 KG of weight.

In the snatch round, Talib finished second on the table after lifting 150 KG weight whereas in the Clean & Jerk round, he managed to lift 170 KG weight in the third attempt. Later, his combined total of 320 was surpassed by others, including Zani, who lifted jus 2kg more than Talib.

On the other hand, China’s Chen Lijun managed to win the gold medal with collective weightlifting of 332 KGs whereas Columbia’s Mosquera Lozano Luis Javier and Italy’s Zanni Mirko finished on the second and third spot after lifting weights of 331 and 322 KGs.

It is noteworthy here that the 21-years old made his first appearance at Olympics. Talha previously won a gold medal for Pakistan in the 2016 Commonwealth Youth Championships in Penang, Malaysia whereas he also won silver at the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games in Apia in Samoa. 

 Talib turned him a hero as Twitterati showered him with praises and his name became the top Pakistani trend on the site.
