SSU commando Saeed Afridi wins martial arts world championship
Saeed Afridi downed Indonesian opponent in the final bout.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Special Security Unit (SSU) commando of Sindh police Khan Saeed Afridi won gold medal in 2nd International Thai Martial Arts Games and Festival 2017, and became the martial arts world champion.
26-year-old Saeed Afridi downed Indonesian opponent in the final bout that was held at National Stadium Bangkok. 70 countries including India had participated in the competition. The Indian squad, led by their ambassador, consisted of 35 members but could not win a single gold medal in the entire tournament.
Commandant SSU Maqsood Ahmed congratulated Saeed Afridi on becoming the world champion and said Saeed has proven his expertise in martial arts. Maqssod Ahmed also said that whole nation is proud of Saeed Afridi’s achievement.
It is pertinent here to mention that Khan Saeed Afridi also won two gold medals in World Martial Arts Tournament that was also held in Thailand in December 2016. The SSU commando had knocked out India’s Shubhan and America’s Jacob Welch to claim his gold medals.
SSU is paying special attention to promote games and to attract commandos towards healthy physical activities by forming sports teams.
