The conversion of mobile vehicles into bulletproof automobiles will bear a cost of Rs 2 billion.

PESHAWAR: After frequent incidents of bomb-attacks and firing at the policemen, government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has decided to protect them by converting the vehicles in their use into bullet-proof ones.

According to a report, the conversion of around 274 mobile vehicles and jeeps into bulletproof automobiles will bear a cost of Rs 2 billion.

IG Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Akbar Khan Hoti had apprised the provincial government that in the last five years, 695 police personnel were killed in several incidents of bomb-assaults and firing, which is why it is becoming difficult for the policemen to work in the conflict-stricken areas.

The decision of making the police vehicles bulletproof has been made after IG Hoti expressed the reservations regarding security.
