Summary The Lahore High Court disposed of a petition seeking the recovery of Imran Khan’s sisters after being informed that their detention had been extended by 30 days on October 7.

LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has disposed of a petition seeking the recovery of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sisters, after considering a report submitted by the home secretary.

Justice Abhar Gul Khan heard the petition filed by Shahraiz. During the hearing, the Punjab government’s lawyer informed the court that the detention of Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi had been extended for another 30 days on October 7.

The petitioner’s counsel requested the court to order the recovery of the three women and direct authorities to produce them before the court.

During the proceedings, the court observed that the detention notification had been issued by the deputy commissioner (DC), but the petitioner had not made the DC a party to the case.

Petitioner’s counsel Rana Mudassar Umar acknowledged the issue, stating that they were aware that the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments would pose a hurdle in the matter.

The court remarked that the petitioner should have been aware of the legal requirements, adding that it could not issue an order beyond the scope of the petition.

According to the petition, Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi had been detained by the deputy commissioner of Lahore for 30 days. The petitioner maintained that the detention period had expired but the three women had not been released.

The petitioner had requested the court to order their recovery. However, after reviewing the home secretary’s report and hearing the arguments, the court disposed of the petition.
