Summary Security forces killed six militants in an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan, while two Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in an exchange of fire, ISPR said.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) — Security forces killed six militants during an intelligence-based operation in the Zarkani area of Dera Ismail Khan on October 24, while two Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in an intense exchange of fire, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched following intelligence reports about the presence of militants belonging to what it described as the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij.

The security forces engaged the militants and killed six of them during the operation, the statement said.

The ISPR identified the two soldiers who lost their lives as Naik Ghulam Murtaza, 36, a resident of Gujrat district, and Sepoy Taseer Ahmed, 30, who belonged to Talagang district.

Both soldiers fought bravely during the exchange of fire and embraced martyrdom while defending the country, according to the military’s statement.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the militants killed during the operation, the ISPR said.

It added that the militants had allegedly been involved in multiple terrorist attacks targeting security forces and law enforcement agencies, as well as the killing of civilians.

A clearance operation was under way in the surrounding area to eliminate any remaining militants, the military said.

The ISPR reiterated that counterterrorism operations would continue at full pace under the national counterterrorism framework and the federal Apex Committee-approved vision of Azm-e-Istehkam.

The initiative aims to strengthen coordinated efforts by security forces and law enforcement agencies to eliminate terrorism and prevent externally supported militant activities in the country, the statement added.

The military also paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, saying their sacrifices strengthened the national resolve to eradicate terrorism and ensure peace and security across Pakistan.
