ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Istanbul on Friday to attend a meeting of foreign ministers from the R-4 bloc, followed by talks involving European diplomats, the Foreign Office (FO) said.

Dar is visiting Türkiye at the invitation of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. According to the FO, he was received upon arrival by Cihad Erginay, director general of Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Pakistan’s Chargé d’Affaires Shaiq Ahmed.

During his one-day visit, Dar will participate in the R-4 foreign ministers’ meeting and a broader gathering involving France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. He is also scheduled to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and hold bilateral talks with his counterparts.

The R-4 grouping, comprising Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, emerged in March and has focused on regional security and mediation efforts between the United States and Iran.

The meetings will be followed by discussions with the European E-3 countries — the UK, France and Germany — with Italy also participating. The E-3 grouping was established more than two decades ago to coordinate diplomatic efforts concerning Iran’s nuclear programme.

The Foreign Office described the gathering as the first meeting involving all seven countries in this format.

The discussions are expected to cover key regional developments and explore coordinated diplomatic responses aimed at promoting peace and stability. Pakistan’s participation, the FO said, reflects its commitment to constructive diplomacy, regional cooperation and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
