Summary Prime Minister’s Adviser and Senator Rana Sanaullah has said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has the right to adopt his political stance
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister’s Adviser and Senator Rana Sanaullah has said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has the right to adopt his political stance, while discussions on mineral exploration remain premature.
Speaking on Dunya New programme ‘Dunya Mehr Bokhari Kay Saath’, Rana Sanaullah said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was entitled to express his political views, although he personally held a different opinion.
He said Maulana’s remarks should not be given undue significance, adding that his statements had been unnecessarily turned into a major issue. He also maintained that Maulana was not unhappy.
Commenting on mineral exploration, the prime minister’s adviser said it was too early to draw conclusions, as the necessary mapping had not yet been completed.
Rana Sanaullah said Pakistan lacked the resources required to extract minerals independently.
He added that if mineral extraction proceeded, both the federal and provincial governments would have a role in the process.
He further said that criticism of a mineral extraction project would be justified once an international company had been awarded a contract to carry out the work.
Referring to Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s position, Rana Sanaullah said the JUI-F chief must have some basis for his stance. He also pointed out that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had a governor and an advisory council.
