Summary Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam says reluctance to adopt counterterrorism measures costs PTI government in KP
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the imposition of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not motivated by any personal or political greed.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, Memon said the KP government was unwilling to address the prevailing issues. He alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had lost its government due to its soft approach towards terrorists and claimed that the party’s chief minister had continued to support them at public rallies.
Memon further alleged that PTI’s founder had previously spoken about opening offices for terrorists and that the PTI government had provided funds to them.
He stressed that terrorism and showing sympathy towards terrorists were two different matters.
Referring to the security situation in Balochistan, the senior minister said the provincial government there was also fighting terrorism. He emphasised the need for collective efforts to combat the threat.
Memon also expressed disappointment over a statement by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, urging him to support the government’s efforts against terrorism and help strengthen the national response to the security challenge.
