ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said the party will continue its protests and sit-ins until the government announces withdrawal of petroleum levy.
Speaking on Dunya News Programme ‘Dunya Mehr Bokhari Ka Saath’, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said the long march has been postponed at the request of the prime minister, adding he will meet the PM after his return from New York.
The JI chief said JI sit-ins and protests are underway, adding the JI will not return without abolishing the petroleum levy.

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said, “PTI has its own agenda and we have our own. The government should talk with PTI. The PM promised to give relief from petroleum levy.”
Earlier, Hafiz Naeem said the party had postponed its long march until the first week of October at the request of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while making it clear that its protest campaign would continue.
Addressing a press conference in Multan, Hafiz Naeem said the JI was raising issues concerning the basic problems faced by the public and accused the government of using petrol prices and tax collection to conceal corruption.
He said sit-ins were continuing in 42 cities and that the party had already asked the government in writing to withdraw the levy, but received a negative response.
