LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has stressed that timely first aid is essential for saving precious human lives during accidents and emergencies.

In her message on World First Aid Day, the chief minister paid tribute to Rescue 1122 personnel and emergency staff at hospitals, saying timely first aid plays a vital role in saving lives and is indispensable during accidents and emergency situations.

Maryam Nawaz said it was necessary to raise public awareness about first aid for a safe and healthy society. She said the Punjab government was following a policy of providing all available resources to save precious lives during emergencies.

According to the chief minister, Punjab is the first province to launch an air ambulance service to ensure treatment for patients during the golden hours, while the provincial government is taking all possible measures to improve emergency medical services.

Maryam Nawaz said first aid and rescue services had been provided in flood-affected areas through clinics on wheels, field hospitals and clinics on boats.

She said Rescue 1122 personnel were working round the clock to serve humanity and provide immediate medical assistance to people affected by accidents.

The chief minister urged every citizen, particularly young people and students, to receive basic first-aid training.
