LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan has paid tribute to the martyrs and national heroes of Pakistan on Defence Day, saying the nation proudly remembers the eternal sacrifices made by those who laid down their lives for the country.

Speaking to media in Lahore, Malik Ahmad Khan said Pakistan had produced great sons of the soil such as Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, while national heroes like MM Alam had brought pride and recognition to the country through their outstanding achievements.

He said the remarkable performances of Pakistan’s national heroes continued to be remembered as glorious chapters in the country’s history.

The Punjab Assembly speaker said India had imposed the 1965 war with the intention of conquering Pakistan.

However, he added, the Pakistan Armed Forces successfully pushed back the Indian forces, resulting in a clear defeat for India.

He added that Pakistan had been fighting a continuous war against terrorism for the past three decades, during which more than 125,000 people had sacrificed their lives.

He said every segment of society, including students and innocent children, had faced the scourge of terrorism.

The Punjab Assembly speaker said Pakistan had made unprecedented sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, adding that Defence Day served as a reminder of the immense sacrifices rendered by all those who had given their lives for the country.
