Summary Rana Sanaullah said AJK voters backed PML-N, expected a two-thirds majority, and urged parties to challenge disputed results through legal channels
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) had expressed confidence in Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), hoping the party would secure a two-thirds majority in the AJK Assembly.
Addressing a press conference alongside other PML-N leaders, Rana Sanaullah said Raja Faisal Ijaz had contested the LA-14 constituency on the party’s ticket, but the party accepted the decision of the electorate.
He said Sajid Iqbal had also joined their team and decided to support PML-N for the development of the constituency. He added that Raja Faisal Ijaz and Sajid Iqbal would work together like brothers for the area’s progress.
Rana Sanaullah said AJK needed development and thanked the people of Muzaffarabad and Mirpur for reposing confidence in PML-N. He said voters had elected representatives capable of addressing public issues.
He said clean and transparent elections were essential for resolving AJK’s problems, adding that voter turnout stood at 56% overall.
The adviser said those participating in the sit-in were also considered brothers and that 99% of them were patriots. He stressed that the people of Kashmir had the same rights as citizens elsewhere in Pakistan.

Responding to Pakistan Peoples Party’s objections to the election results, Rana Sanaullah urged those raising allegations to adopt legal channels. He said the Election Commission and relevant laws were in place and that election decisions should be addressed in accordance with the Constitution and law.
He said the government had no authority to alter the mandate given by the people, asserting that the AJK electorate’s mandate was clear and transparent and that the new assembly would be formed in accordance with constitutional and legal provisions.
Rana Sanaullah said the assembly had been constituted and the new government would have the authority to make decisions within the framework of the Constitution and law.
Responding to a question about the creation of new provinces, he said a detailed response would be given at a press conference.
He also said PML-N leader Amir Muqam could not attend the press conference due to ill health.
