ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Eight Indian-sponsored terrorists affiliated with Fitna Al Hindustan were killed when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) detonated prematurely while being prepared by the militants in Surab district of Balochistan on Wednesday morning, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The premature explosion also triggered a secondary detonation involving other explosives stored at the site, reportedly killing three nearby civilians and injuring several terrorists. Following the incident, security forces and Balochistan Police launched a joint clearance operation to track down the perpetrators and their facilitators.
During the operation, security forces detected the movement of fleeing terrorists and engaged them, killing 10 more militants affiliated with Fitna Al Hindustan, according to ISPR.
The latest developments bring the total number of terrorists eliminated in the incidents to 18. Two security personnel also sustained injuries during an intense exchange of fire, ISPR said.
Sanitisation operations are continuing in the area to locate and eliminate any remaining terrorists and ensure the area is secure.
ISPR said the incident highlights the continuing counter-terrorism efforts by Pakistan's security forces and law enforcement agencies against what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism.
The military's statement said the operations are being conducted under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
The campaign against terrorism will continue at full pace, ISPR said, with security forces and law enforcement agencies remaining committed to eliminating the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
