Summary Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi sets September 30 deadline for Islamabad Safe City expansion, with 85% work completed, and directs early finalization of Safe City Bill for NA.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed authorities to complete the Safe City expansion project in Islamabad by September 30.
The directive was issued during a special meeting chaired by the interior minister at the Safe City Headquarters, which reviewed progress on the ongoing expansion project.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry was also present during the visit and meeting.
Officials briefed the meeting that around 85 percent of the overall work on the Safe City Expansion Project has been completed. The installation of new surveillance cameras is also progressing, with 85 percent of the cameras already installed.
The meeting was informed that 415 kilometres of optical fibre have been laid as part of the project. Work related to the data centre, cyber architecture and cyber security has also reached 80 percent completion.
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the need for timely completion of the project and set September 30 as the deadline for finalizing the remaining work.
“Our resolve is to transform Islamabad Safe City into a world-class institution on the pattern of modern, smart, and developed countries,” he said.
The Safe City system equipped with new technology will ensure the protection of citizens, effective monitoring, and prompt response.
The interior minister has also assigned the task of completing the state-of-the-art Fusion Center of Islamabad Safe City within three months.
Naqvi has directed authorities to finalize the Safe City Bill and present it in the National Assembly at the earliest.
Federal Secretary Interior, Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), senior Safe City officials and other relevant officers were also present during the meeting.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the Safe City expansion initiative and the steps being taken to further strengthen security infrastructure through modern technology.
