Summary Lahore police rescued two foreign women within two hours after a kidnapping report from Netherlands. Two suspects arrested as probe continues into ransom and assault allegations.
LAHORE (Dunya News) –Two foreign women were rescued in Lahore following the intervention of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, after police launched a swift operation based on an emergency kidnapping report.
Acting on the chief minister’s notice, police were given a two-hour task after an emergency 15 call was received from the Netherlands regarding the abduction. Police successfully recovered the foreign women within two hours and arrested the suspects involved.
The women, belonging to the Netherlands and Venezuela, had arrived in Pakistan to meet their friends. The father of one of the women, who was in the Netherlands, contacted Pakistan’s emergency helpline and reported the kidnapping.
According to the FIR, the suspects allegedly abducted the women for ransom and demanded 1.5 million dollars for their release. The accused are also facing allegations of sexual assault.
DIG Operations said police immediately launched a rescue operation after receiving the complaint from the victim’s father. With assistance from Safe City surveillance, law enforcement traced the suspects and recovered the abducted women.
He further said a case has been registered against the suspects at Defence C Police Station under FIR No. 1560/26. Two suspects have been arrested, while raids are underway to apprehend others.
Authorities said the victims are undergoing medical examination, while further legal action is being taken in light of collected evidence.
