Summary Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that opponents had, over the years, made allegations against MQM in an effort to damage the party’s image, but none of those allegations had been proven.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Wednesday welcomed the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan verdict in the Baldia Factory Fire case.
MQM Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that the SC has removed another allegation in the Baldia Town case and acquitted MQM workers who had been accused in the matter.
Siddiqui stated that once again the court had proven MQM’s position to be correct. He said that opponents had, over the years, made allegations against MQM in an effort to damage the party’s image, but none of those allegations had been proven. He added that many of those who made the accusations later withdrew their claims in courts and before the media.
In an exclusive interview with Dunya News, MQP-P leader Mustafa Kamal said that it was a significant day for the families of the 260 victims. He said that “God has vindicated us today” and thanked the Supreme Court for hearing the case on its merits.
He further stated that he had maintained from the very beginning that MQM-P workers were not responsible for the incident, and that today his position had been confirmed. He said that the fire was caused by mistakes and negligence on the part of the factory owners.
