Summary Karachi faces severe heatwave as temperatures reach 44°C with low humidity, raising heatstroke risks and prompting authorities to urge caution and increased water intake.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Karachi remains in the grip of an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring to 44 degrees Celsius, intensifying discomfort across the city.

According to reports, the temperature was recorded at 44°C around 2pm, while humidity levels dropped sharply to just 8 per cent, worsening the dry heat conditions.

Hot winds blowing from the northwest at a speed of 15 kilometres per hour have turned into scorching gusts, increasing the risk of heatstroke for residents. The lack of moisture in the air has made the heat feel more severe, leaving citizens struggling to cope with the extreme weather.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department stated that the dry and hot winds are the primary reason behind the heightened intensity of the heat. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and take precautionary measures to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Hospitals and emergency services have also been put on alert as the likelihood of heatstroke cases rises during this period of extreme temperatures.
