FBR orders POS installation for hotels, hospitals, gyms, clubs, and businesses nationwide to improve transparency, prevent tax evasion, with limited exemptions for small-scale operators.
LAHORE (Dunya News) — The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ordered online monitoring and mandatory Point of Sale (POS) systems for more than 14 business sectors, including hotels, restaurants, hospitals, marriage halls, gyms, swimming pools, beauty parlors, courier services, and professional accountants.
The notification provides exemptions for small businesses, air-conditioned facilities, hospitals charging less than PKR 500, and educational institutes with fees under PKR 1,000. Retailers, manufacturers, importers, currency exchange companies, and vocational training centers must also integrate with FBR’s online system.
The move aims to increase transparency, prevent tax evasion, and bring business transactions under digital surveillance. Large cities like Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad will see strict implementation in clubs, gyms, and multipurpose facilities.
