Pakistan Bar Council raised serious concern over Imran Khan’s health in jail, urging immediate medical examination and best treatment, especially for eye issues, under Supreme Court directives.
LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) - The Pakistan Bar Council has expressed serious concern over the health of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, who remains in custody.
Pakistan Bar Council Vice Chairman Pir Muhammad Masood Chishti and Executive Committee Chairman Munir Ahmed Malik said they were deeply worried about Khan’s deteriorating health condition.
They stated that the government, particularly the jail superintendent, was not taking the matter seriously. They also noted that no adequate steps had been taken by the relevant authorities or Khan’s family.
The Bar Council urged the federal government to ensure an immediate medical examination of Imran Khan, especially regarding his eye-related issues, by the best available doctors, even if selected by Khan himself.
They further demanded that he be provided with the best possible medical facilities, in line with the directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The Pakistan Bar Council said that negligence toward the former prime minister’s health remains a matter of legal and humanitarian concern.
