LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Punjab government has decided to allow Basant celebrations not only on rooftops but also in public parks and open spaces across the province.
According to officials, kite flying will be permitted in parks and open areas under strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Lahore’s parks will also join in the colorful festivities of Basant 2026.
Raja Mansoor, DG of the Punjab Horticulture Authority, said the festival is no longer limited to rooftops, and conditional approval has been granted for celebrations in parks.
Authorities stressed that all SOPs must be followed to ensure public safety. The move aims to let citizens enjoy Basant in a safe and controlled environment while spreading the joy beyond rooftops.
