Ahsan Bhoon group sweeps Punjab Bar Council elections, winning 8 of 11 seats, defeating Hamid Khan group; final result for one seat pending December 22.

LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) - In the Pakistan Bar Council elections, the Ahsan Bhoon group defeated the Hamid Khan group with a decisive victory in Punjab.

Ahsan Bhoon group won 8 out of 11 seats, while Hamid Khan group managed to secure only 2 seats. The result of the 11th seat in Punjab is still pending.

Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar and Ahsan Bhoon thanked lawyers for their support, calling the victory a triumph for the constitution, rule of law, and democracy.

A total of 25 candidates contested the 11 Punjab seats, with 75 members of the Punjab Bar Council casting their votes. According to unofficial results, the Bhoon group secured 8 seats, and the Hamid Khan group 2.

From the Bhoon group, the elected members include Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, group head Bhoon, Tahir Nasrullah Waraich, Amir Saeed Raan, Pir Masood Chishti, Saqib Akram Gondal, Hafeez-ur-Rehman Chaudhry, and Syed Qalb-e-Hassan.

Hamid Khan group’s elected members are Salman Akram Raja and Shafqat Mehmood Chauhan. Salman Akram Raja emphasized that their struggle for judicial independence will continue.

The final result for the 11th Punjab seat will be announced on December 22.
