PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to close 57cases related to the May 9 incidents.
The province's Law Department has sent recommendations to the provincial cabinet to drop the cases.
Sources indicated that several PTI members of the provincial assembly are named in these cases, and conviction could lead to disqualification.
Over the past weeks, dozens of May 9 cases have already been resolved in the province.
The Advocate General's Office has prepared a formal recommendation for withdrawing the cases. Government sources said the final decision will be made during a provincial cabinet meeting. Following the cabinet's approval, the process of withdrawing cases in the courts will begin, with the state officially ending its claims.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister, Shafiullah Jan, stated that the government had previously dropped cases during the tenure of Ali Amin Gandapur through circulation approval from the cabinet.
He emphasized that all the cases were politically motivated and lacked merit.
