QUETTA (Dunya News) - Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan on Thursday chaired a high-level conference of commissioners and deputy commissioners to review key administrative and public welfare initiatives across the province.
The meeting focused on temporary appointments in the health and education departments, market price control, enforcement of the plastic bag ban, and the delivery of public services through open courts (khuli kacheris).
Addressing the conference, the Chief Secretary said the provincial government is committed to improving the quality of life for citizens by utilizing available resources to implement development schemes and public-service initiatives.
He emphasized that government institutions and district administrations must intensify their efforts to ensure that every citizen has access to a better and more satisfactory standard of living.
Shakeel Qadir Khan directed officials to ensure transparent recruitment to fill vacant positions in the education and health departments under the third phase of the hiring process.
He noted that the provincial ban on plastic shopping bags imposed across Balochistan, including Quetta should be strictly enforced, while also encouraging the public to shift toward environmentally friendly alternatives.
The Chief Secretary instructed administrations to closely monitor the prices of essential commodities so that items continue to be sold at official government rates.
Officials briefed the meeting that more than 17,000 inspections of markets and bazaars were conducted across the province during the month of November.
Shakeel Qadir Khan also called for the regular organization of open courts, adding that these forums are essential for building direct communication with the public and ensuring swift resolution of grievances.
Highlighting the broader impact of development efforts, the Chief Secretary said that ongoing projects are crucial for providing basic public services, improving social welfare, and raising living standards.
He added that the timely completion of these projects would boost employment opportunities and support progress in key sectors such as education and healthcare.
