ISLAMABAD (Dunya News): The new ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan, Raimundas Karoblis, said that Pakistan’s concerns regarding the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are valid.
In an interview, Raimundas Karoblis said that Pakistan’s demand that Afghan soil should not be used for terrorism is justified. He said that more information is needed to form an opinion on the Afghan Taliban’s Doha commitments.
He said that Pakistan-Afghanistan dialogue should continue through Turkiye’s mediation.
He said that constitutional amendments are Pakistan’s internal matter. Replying to a question, he said that the decision regarding the release of the PTI founder lies with the courts.
Raimundas Karoblis said that political diversity and judicial independence are fundamental principles. He noted that after the 2022 floods, the European Union provided nearly 1 billion euros in assistance to Pakistan and added that cooperation on climate change will remain a top priority in the future.
