ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The deputy commissioner of Islamabad has announced that the federal capital will soon start issuing E-Tag stickers for all vehicles operating on the city’s roads.

Starting from 18 November, vehicle owners can visit various designated points across the city to obtain the E-Tag stickers. The designated locations for E-tag issuance will be announced in advance.

To collect the E-Tag, vehicle owners will need to provide their vehicle’s registration card. The stickers will be available for all vehicles, including those registered in Islamabad and other provinces.

The district administration has emphasized that the stickers will only be issued at approved points.

Earlier, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry stated that electronic tagging will be made mandatory for every vehicle entering or operating within the city. He emphasized that no vehicle would be permitted on Islamabad’s roads without an e-tag, a measure aimed at enabling authorities to monitor vehicle movement more effectively.

The move comes in the wake of the recent suicide blast outside the district and sessions court in G-11, which claimed 12 lives and injured 36 others. Officials say the e-tagging initiative is part of broader security measures being implemented across the capital to enhance public safety.

This step is expected to strengthen law enforcement oversight and improve the city’s overall security infrastructure, particularly in high-risk areas.
