NEELAM VALLEY (Dunya News) - The scenic Neelum Valley in Azad Kashmir has experienced the season’s first rain and snowfall, causing temperatures to drop sharply across the region.

The Meteorological Department has forecast further rain and snowfall in the valley’s higher areas over the coming week.

While tourists are arriving to admire the valley’s winter beauty, locals continue to face challenges as rehabilitation work in flood-hit areas remains incomplete. The regions affected by the August 14 cloudburst in Nallah Jagran are still awaiting full restoration.

Critical infrastructure, including link bridges and access roads connecting Kundal Shahi Waterfall, Kutton Jagran, and other localities, has yet to be rebuilt. The slow pace of reconstruction has left over 25,000 residents struggling with disrupted travel and limited access to essential services.

Villagers have appealed to the Azad Kashmir government and district authorities to accelerate restoration efforts, especially the reconstruction of damaged bridges and roads, to alleviate their difficulties before winter worsens.

Despite these challenges, the first snowfall has enhanced the valley’s allure, turning Neelum into a picturesque winter destination for visitors from across Pakistan.
