LAHORE (Dunya News) - On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provincial government has initiated a comprehensive relief and rehabilitation process for flood victims, with a detailed survey set to begin on September 12.

A high-level meeting chaired by Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed was held at the PDMA head office in Lahore to review the framework for damage assessment and assistance to victims. The meeting was attended by Punjab Home Secretary Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia, and officials from irrigation, agriculture, local government, C&W, and urban unit departments.

Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed stated that the joint survey will include representatives from the Urban Unit, Pakistan Army, revenue staff, and agriculture and livestock departments. The survey will record data on human casualties, crop destruction, damaged houses, and livestock losses.

So far, 4,155 villages across Punjab have been affected, impacting over 4.15 million people. Families of deceased victims are being compensated with Rs. 1 million each, while owners of destroyed houses—both partial and complete—will also receive financial aid.

Additionally, compensation will be provided per acre for damaged crops and to livestock owners for lost animals. The final approval of the relief package will be given by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to ensure transparency and timely assistance for all victims.
