LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has reserved its verdict on the bail petition of Shahrez Khan, son of former prime minister Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, in the Jinnah House attack case.
During the hearing, the defense lawyer argued that Shahrez had been falsely accused of inciting workers, but no evidence was found against him despite geo-fencing and thorough investigations.
He stressed that Shahrez’s name was not mentioned in the challan or by any investigating officer, and that his arrest was politically motivated since his mother raises her voice for Imran Khan’s release. The lawyer further claimed that Shahrez was in Chitral at the time, supported by sworn affidavits.
The judge, asking the lawyer to conclude arguments quickly, noted his own schedule to visit jail. The defense insisted that no officer had ever summoned Shahrez during the probe.
The prosecution, however, countered that affidavits had yet to be verified and that images were obtained from Shahrez’s friends’ social media accounts, though none appeared on his own profile. They urged the court to dismiss the bail plea.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the ATC reserved its decision. It is pertinent to mention that Sarwar Road Police had nominated Shahez as supplementary accused in a case in connection with the May 9 Jinnah House attack.
