LAHORE (Web Desk) - The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has issued party tickets for two critical by-elections in Punjab.

Hafiz Muhammad Nauman will contest the National Assembly seat from NA-129 Lahore, while Ali Haider Noor Khan Niazi has been nominated for the Provincial Assembly seat from PP-87 Mianwali.

The NA-129 seat became vacant following the death of senior politician and former Punjab governor Mian Muhammad Azhar. Meanwhile, the PP-87 seat was vacated due to the disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former MPA Malik Ahmad Khan Bachar, who was convicted in connection with the May 9 case.

These by-elections are seen as a litmus test for party popularity in the wake of evolving political dynamics.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Ahmad Khan Bhachar had been removed from his position as the Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly.

According to reports, the Punjab Assembly Secretariat has officially issued a notification removing Bhachar from the post.

Earlier, an Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced PTI leaders Ahmad Chatha, Ahmad Khan Bhachar, Dr Yasmin Rashid, and Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed to 10 years in prison in connection with the May 9 violence case.

Following the conviction, the Election Commission of Pakistan issued disqualification notices for both Ahmad Chatha and Ahmad Khan Bhachar.

Ahmad Chatha was elected from NA-66 Wazirabad, while Ahmad Khan Bhachar represented PP-87 Mianwali in the Punjab Assembly.
