Powerhouse flooded after increase in water discharge from Tarbela

HARIPUR (Dunya News) – A protective dam has collapsed after an increase in water discharge from Tarbela Dam spillway.

Under-construction protective dam ‘T-5 Extension 1550 Project’ and side area have been flooded after an increase in water discharge in Tarbela Dam spillway.

Wapda Chairman Lieutenant General (Retd) Muhammad Saeed will visit Tarbela Dam on Sunday (today) on an emergency basis.

He will assess the damage caused to the under-construction T-5 Powerhouse. Wapda has formed an inquiry committee, and action will be taken against those found responsible based on the findings.

It may take up to three months to drain water from the under-construction T-5 Powerhouse and its surrounding areas.
